NELSON COUNTY, Ky. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office says deputies are investigating a crash on New Haven Road after a large chunk of ice came off a box truck and struck the windshield of a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026.

Officials said Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Nelson County Fire, and Nelson County EMS responded to the injury collision. The sheriff’s office reported the ice came from the top side of a large box truck, then landed in the windshield of an oncoming vehicle. The investigation is being handled by Sgt. Keith, according to the agency.

Authorities said injuries were non-life-threatening, and they urged drivers to use caution as winter weather thaws, emphasizing that motorists should clear snow and ice from vehicles before traveling.
