Police Recover More Than $5 Million in Property in Cargo Theft Investigation Involving Stolen Container Chassis

LOS ANGELES, California — Authorities recovered more than $5 million in stolen property and arrested five individuals as part of a multi-agency cargo theft investigation involving stolen container chassis.

On February 18, 2026, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Division Cargo Theft Task Force, working in partnership with the Los Angeles Port Police, the California Department of Justice Tax Recovery in the Underground Economy Program, and the California Department of Motor Vehicles Investigations Division, executed three search warrants tied to the ongoing investigation.

The warrants were served at locations in Corona, Compton, and Wilmington.

Arrested Individuals

Investigators arrested the following suspects:

  • Jose Del Toro Sr., 43, of Corona

  • Maria Ramos, 42, of Corona

  • Malissa Del Toro, 25, of Corona

  • Jose Del Toro Jr., 23, of Corona

  • Yairet Jimenez, 23, of Corona

All five suspects were booked on charges of 487(a) PC – Grand Theft.

Property Seized

During the execution of the search warrants, authorities impounded:

  • 84 stolen container chassis

  • 11 tractors

  • 25 vehicles

  • Six all-terrain vehicles

  • Two heavy-duty forklifts believed to be associated with fraudulent vehicle identification numbers

Investigators also recovered:

  • Three handguns

  • Multiple digital devices

  • $301,604 in U.S. currency

Authorities estimate the total value of the recovered property exceeds $5 million.

Law enforcement officials stated that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional arrests are expected.

Officials said the case highlights the importance of interagency collaboration in combating large-scale cargo theft and protecting the integrity of commercial supply chains.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
