PARK COUNTY, MONTANA — A Park County sheriff's deputy narrowly escaped serious injury Thursday after a second semi truck was blown over on top of his patrol vehicle while he was inside assisting at the scene of a first blown-over semi truck on Interstate 90.

On March 12, 2026, the Park County Sheriff's Office, Montana Highway Patrol, and Park County Rural Fire responded to westbound I-90 at mile marker 350 for a report of a semi truck that had been blown over by high winds. While deputies and first responders were on scene, a second semi truck was blown over by the wind and landed on top of the deputy's patrol vehicle, with the deputy still inside.

The deputy sustained only minor injuries and was transported to Livingston Health Care to be checked out. "EVERYONE IS OK," Sheriff Tad Dykstra confirmed in a statement.

Around 1:30 p.m., westbound I-90 was shut down at Big Timber to allow crews to clear the crashed vehicles and for wind gusts to die down. Both directions of I-90 have since reopened.
