Colorado State troopers are warning truck drivers about the dangers of mountain driving after one driver was forced to use a runway ramp over the weekend.

The incident happened on I-70 on the west side of the Eisenhower Johnson Memorial Tunnels near Silverthorne, Colorado, on January 10.

“Even with clear road conditions, please consider steep grades on the I-70 Mountain corridor on these busy weekends, thankfully this driver was aware of the surroundings, being a good reminder to never stop in front of a ramp,” the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) said.

In images shared by CSP, you can see that the semi truck nearly made it to the top of the ramp.

Colorado transportation officials recently rolled out a safety campaign called “Mountain Rules” to educate truck drivers on how to navigate the I-70 Mountain Corridor safely.
