Tractor Trailer Plunges Off I-270 Overpass in Denver; Driver Rescued and Hospitalized

A tractor trailer went off an overpass on Interstate 270 and crashed onto 56th Avenue below in the early hours of Tuesday morning, prompting a major emergency response in the Denver metro area.
According to South Adams Fire Department, the crash was reported at approximately 4:45 a.m. Crews arrived to find the truck severely damaged after falling from the elevated highway. One person was trapped inside the cab and had to be extricated by firefighters before being rushed to the hospital. The condition of the individual has not yet been released.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Denver Fire Rescue, Commerce City Police Department, and Platte Valley Ambulance Services, working together during the rescue and cleanup operation.
As of Tuesday morning, both directions of 56th Avenue remained closed while authorities conducted an investigation and cleared debris from the area. Officials have not yet stated what caused the truck to leave the roadway and fall from the overpass.
