FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — North Carolina investigators say a 15-year-old boy whose body was discovered in an overgrown ravine last week was likely the victim of a hit-and-run involving a teal-colored Freightliner Coronado semi-truck, and they are urging the truck driver to come forward.

The body of Carlos Colindres was found Thursday off Reidsville Road, less than a mile from where he was last seen at a party on Rickard Drive in the early morning hours of October 26, according to WXII. His pink bicycle was discovered nearby.

Carlos was reported missing as a runaway by his family that same afternoon. Days later, deputies recovered his cellphone, and a search warrant confirmed he had been at the party shortly before his disappearance.

Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough said the condition of the ravine and the body made the discovery especially difficult. “Anytime we have a body lying in a ravine like that, the weeds are overgrown… there’s not a clear view,” he said.

Investigators have determined that Carlos was likely struck by a Freightliner Coronado semi-truck in a teal paint scheme on the morning of October 26. Parts from the truck were recovered at the scene, but key components needed to identify the vehicle remain missing.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Whit Efird emphasized the urgency of the search. “Quite frankly, we need your help,” he said, noting that the Freightliner’s distinctive color and model should be recognizable to the public.

Sheriff Kimbrough made a direct plea to the driver: “You have an obligation. We’re hoping something pricks your heart… something touches you that makes you want to do the right thing, because it’s not too late.”

Authorities continue to investigate and are asking anyone who recognizes a teal Freightliner Coronado with recent front-end damage to contact law enforcement immediately.
