Gainesville Woman Arrested After Pointing Gun at Tow Truck Drivers During Repossession
GAINESVILLE, Florida — A Gainesville woman is facing multiple felony charges after police say she pointed a gun at tow truck drivers and climbed into her vehicle while it was actively being repossessed, escalating into a confrontation with responding officers.
According to the Gainesville Police Department, Lacey Brown, 30, was arrested and made her first court appearance Monday on charges including aggravated assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Investigators say the incident occurred as tow truck operators were in the process of lifting Brown’s vehicle. Police allege Brown jumped into the car while it was already being raised, attempted to slam the door on the tow truck drivers, and then produced a firearm, pointing it at the workers when her attempts to stop the tow failed.
The tow truck drivers immediately called 911. When officers arrived, one officer reported that Brown kicked the firearm out of his hands as he approached her. The officer then tackled Brown and took her into custody, police said.
Officers noted that no firearm was ultimately recovered from the vehicle. Police say Brown’s friends were seen removing items from the car before officers arrived, which investigators believe explains why the gun was no longer inside the vehicle.
Brown remains in custody as the case moves forward, and the incident remains under review.
