PUTNAM COUNTY, INDIANA — An estimated 309 pounds of cocaine valued at approximately $7 million was found inside a blue International semi tractor-trailer during a routine Department of Transportation inspection on Interstate 70 in Putnam County on Saturday, leading to the arrests of two men.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., an Indiana State Police trooper stopped the semi on I-70 in Putnam County for a routine DOT inspection. The tractor-trailer was traveling toward Richmond from Joplin, Missouri.

During the stop, the trooper observed enough criminal indicators to request an ISP K-9 to conduct a search of the vehicle. During that search, troopers located 309 pounds of cocaine inside the area of the truck where the driver sleeps. Authorities estimated the cocaine’s value at $7 million.

Two California men were arrested: Gurpreet Singh, 25, and Jasveer Singh, 30. Both were transported to the Putnam County Jail and were preliminarily charged with dealing narcotics (Level 2 Felony). Authorities also said ICE deportation holds were placed on both individuals.

Indiana Governor Mike Braun commented on the seizure, stating: “Indiana has zero tolerance for drug traffickers,” and praised the troopers’ work while emphasizing public safety and coordinated enforcement efforts. Police said the seizure is part of an ongoing effort to interdict dangerous drugs being transported through Indiana, and noted that enforcement actions have led to significant seizures and efforts aimed at dismantling large-scale drug organizations.

The case remains ongoing.
