Dump Truck Driver Killed When Tire Explodes While Being Inflated During Roadside Repair on Miami-Dade’s Dolphin Expressway

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A dump truck driver was killed Wednesday morning after a tire ruptured while the vehicle was being serviced on the Dolphin Expressway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP officials said the incident happened around 10:20 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Northwest 137th Avenue after the dump truck became disabled due to a flat tire. Troopers said the driver contacted a mobile repair service, and while the service provider was inflating the tire, it ruptured and struck the driver.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s identity has not been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
