MOSCOW, PENNSYLVANIA — A multi-agency emergency response was launched early Friday morning after a Greyhound bus carrying 33 passengers struck the rear of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 380, leaving the bus's exit door inoperable and requiring rescue crews to forcibly remove it to evacuate passengers and reach the injured.

The crash prompted the dispatch of multiple fire companies, Pennsylvania State Police, and PennDOT to the scene. Upon arrival, crews from Station 14 — Covington Independent Fire Company — assessed the situation and found that while injuries were reported as minor, the substantial damage to the front of the bus had rendered the egress door completely unusable.

Rescue crews deployed the full complement of Holmatro Pentheon battery hydraulic tools to cut through the entanglement and steel structure of the bus door, allowing EMS to access injured passengers while enabling those uninjured to exit the vehicle. "Even with the level of entanglement and strength of the steel structure of the bus and door, the Holmatro tools made quick and easy work of the task," Covington Independent Fire Company said.

On-scene units included Chief 14, Rescue 14, Truck 14, units 14-8, 14-9, and 7-8, along with PennDOT and Pennsylvania State Police.

No serious injuries were reported among the 33 occupants on board.
