PALERMO, NEW YORK — An 80-year-old woman was killed Thursday afternoon after a tractor-trailer ran a stop sign and crashed into her minivan at an Oswego County intersection.

At approximately 12:22 p.m., a 2000 Peterbilt tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on Route 45 in Palermo when it failed to stop at a stop sign, according to Lt. Andrew J. The minivan driver, Suzanne Beyer, 80, of Palermo, was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver, Richard Ward, 62, of Earlville, was transported to Oswego Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the Oswego County Sheriff's Office.
