I’m 30 pretty much gotten nowhere in life. Feel like trucking may be my last resort for a career. Right now I’m a line cook making 28k per year but looking to make more as this isn’t sustainable long term.
I was thinking of trucking but came to the realization even if you make 30k for example you still have to pay for showers so say 15x365=5,475 so now you’re at $24,525. Then you also have to pay for parking as I assume the company doesn’t reimburse you so what that’s another 4-5k per year? So now you’re at 20k, I’m sorta feeling defeated after learning about the showers and parking not being paid.
Plus I also assume you need to buy your own tools and equipment etc so I don’t know. Trucking seems good to me on paper since I’m extremely introverted and don’t mind my own company but the pay for new drivers doesn’t seem ok.
I want to do OTR starting off I want to do tanker or hazmat but since I’m new I don’t think I can do that off the rip so was going to try flatbed and try moving up from that, but I don’t know anymore.
